Ansmann's DigiCharger is designed to be a near universal charger for Li-Ion batteries as used in digital cameras and camcorders. Powered either via the 230V mains adapter or the 12V car lead, it uses a system of adapter plates (all included in the pack) to charge over 100 different battery types, rated at either 3.6V or 7.2V. For batteries of the sizes AAA, AA, C, D, and 9 volt, there are two popular types of rechargeable batteries that are fairly long lived, Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd, sometimes pronounced Ni-Cad), and Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH).
